Hojlund and McTominay score in breathless Napoli win as Dortmund keep pressure on Bayern

Naples survived a night of chaos to claim a dramatic 3-2 victory at Genoa, with Rasmus Hojlund scoring twice and Scott McTominay also finding the net in a breathless manner. Series A competition.

The visitors got off to a nightmare start when an early error from Alessandro Buongiorno led to a penalty inside 15 seconds, which Ruslan Malinovskyi converted.

Napoli responded brilliantly, turning the tide in a frenzied spell as Hojlund stepped in after Justin Bijlow parried McTominay’s effort, before McTominay himself struck from long range moments later.

Despite his goal, McTominay struggled physically and was forced off at half-time, disrupting Napoli’s momentum.

Genoa took advantage after the break when Buongiorno was caught out again, allowing Lorenzo Colombo to burst through midfield and score the equalizer.

Napoli continued to advance but suffered another setback when Juan Jesus was sent off for a second yellow card, leaving Conte’s side to play the closing stages with 10 men.

The decisive moment came in stoppage time when Maxwel Cornet fouled Antonio Vergara in the area. After a VAR review, a penalty was awarded and Hojlund kept his cool, his scuffed effort twisting under Bijlow’s hand to secure a remarkable victory.

The result ended Genoa’s unbeaten run and gave Napoli a vital three points, earned the hard way after surviving injuries, defensive errors and relentless late pressure.

Guirassy strikes late in Dortmund win

Borussia Dortmund kept the pressure on Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich with a hard-earned 2-1 victory over Wolfsburg on Saturday thanks to Serhou Guirassy’s winning goal.

The visitors took the lead just before half-time when Julian Brandt took advantage of sustained pressure, rising to respond to a well-taken corner and guiding his header past the Wolfsburg keeper to give Dortmund a deserved advantage.

Wolfsburg responded soon after the restart as Konstantinos Koulierakis headed in from a free kick to level the hosts, but Dortmund regained control late on.

Guirassy scored the decisive goal in the closing stages, finishing from close range after a quick move to secure all three points.
